The Art of Loving What You Do: Why Obsession Can Be a Virtue

Some other day when I was surfing through the web, I saw these beautiful lines

To become truly great at something, you need to be at least a little obsessed with that thing — enough to get lost in the joy of doing it, not the allure of what it could get you

If we are obsessed, we live in that world, we give our 💯% without a second thought, we never bother so much about the result because we aren’t waiting here to reach the destination to become happy or joyful. You will be enjoying the whole journey, right from start.

There will be no concept of success or failure in this, you are already successful detaching yourself from the success or failure trap. There is no stepping back because you love doing that thing & you are obsessed enough not to leave. There is no full stop because even after reaching the targets, you will be pulled again by your heart to do the same thing.

If results are attracting you to do something, you are just motivated enough to reach the ideal future, so you just wanna keep putting your efforts. It’s good though but when you are going in that journey, if you don’t like something, you will be still doing the things because of target motivation, a question might come at some point are the results are worthy enough to sacrifice the present comforts ??

If you are obsessed, you won’t get that train of thought because you will get lost in the joy of doing the thing or loving the process.

  • Get obsessed with the work you do, not in impressing your good or bad boss.
  • Get obsessed in showering love in your relationship…it shouldn’t be like I’ll do more to get more from my better half. If that’s the equation in your mind, it becomes a business transaction, not love.
  • Get obsessed in living a happy life, enjoying every moment without worrying about the past scars or future fears.
  • Get obsessed in being a better human being, there is no competition anyway !!

Obsession isn’t always bad, it depends on what things you are obsessed with & how you see. It’s completely acceptable if you are not buying my argument because as one size does not fit all !!
